Infiana is investing €20 million in its production site in Forcheim, Germany and Malvern, PA. The two new coating facilities are scheduled to be started up in the first half of 2017. In Forcheim, the specialty films manufacturer is adding a state-of-the-art thermal coating system. Gernot Beckert, GM, EMEA region, says, “This new technology will allow us to offer our customers more specialized products, which are optimally designed for their specific applications. In thermal coating, the thickness of the film in relation to the high drying heat, by way of example, is currently a limiting factor. This new facility will allow us to significantly enlarge the process window and produce even thinner coated films in future. This is exactly the solution that the fast growing market demands.” Meanwhile, at Infiana’s U.S. site in Malvern, PA, a new printing and coating system will allow the company to serve a broader range of markets. The company is already a market leader in the building and construction facility but the new line will allow Infiana to diversify its production and portfolio to reach customers in all markets. “By purchasing the printing and coating machine, we have laid the technologicaly foundation in Malvern to futher position ourselves as the leading porovider of specialty films in North America in all our core markets—building and construction, personal care, healthcare and pressure sensitive and composites,” general manager Robert Shumoski says. Meeting customer needs faster with products developed for their specific applications is one of the key objective Infiana is pursuing with its investment and its premium brand strategy, executives add. In addition to higher capacity, Infiana has increased flexibility in production planning at the various sites.
